My dear Creasy,
In reply to your letter of January 5th, addressed
to Hardinge, I am writing to say that His Majesty has
been pleased to approve the suggestion made by the
Governor of Hong Kong, in the enclosed despatch, that
the central point of the celebration of the Colony's
centenary should be the unveiling of a statue of The
King.
His Majesty feels that he should be portrayed in
Robes and a Crown, and, whilst The King is prepared to
leave the question of a Sculptor to the Hong Kong
authorities, I am to suggest that Sir William Reid Dick
would be a good choice.
